Mayhaw Harvest Farm Festival

SOLD

The Mayhaw Farm Festival is over and was a great success in spite of Saturday’s storms. The rain was certainly welcome but we could have done without the delay, and later that day the damage to trees and power lines. However, we are not unaware how lite our problems are compared to flooding and tornado damage just west and north of us. So thank you to all the vendors that sat and waited in their vehicles until almost noon and closed down quickly when the storm came back at 4 PM. Thank you to the many visitors that came out Saturday afternoon in spite of a short day. Many of the vendors did very well and enjoyed meeting new friends and customers.

Sunday turned out cool and dry with a lot of new visitors and some returning from the day before.  Some of the vendors from Saturday couldn’t return on Sunday but several new vendors took the place so there was still plenty to do and see.

The hayride was a great success and full every time it went out. We sold Mayhaw berries and jelly. This was the first year for the Mayhaw Pepper Jelly and it sold out.

Grandchildren and family friends took charge of the goat petting pen and the children even gave the goats baths before the event. The twin doelings (little girls) were named Jolly and Rancher. The little buckling (boy) was named Pinecone.  Walker, our bottle fed buckling that has been at the farmers market with me in the past, was there with them.  The chickens and guineas ran all around the farm to the delight of many and the big guardian dogs Ben, Woody and Siggy were favorites too.

These folks all helped make the two days a success.
