The Floridan Aquifer in Alabama, Georgia and Florida
Thursday October 2, Friday October 3 and Saturday October 4. It is being held at the historic Monticello Opera House here in Jefferson County.
Are you aware of your water sources? Do you understand the threats to our water supply? Water quality is often discussed with great concern about contamination. The real question is – Are you sure there is going to be a supply of water available with the current usage and polices in place? The conference is designed to start that dialogue.
This sponsored conference is open to the public at no charge. This Sharing Water Conference will give you information about speakers and events. Plan to attend one day, one session or the entire conference. You don’t have to register in advance but it will help us for planning breaks and such.
Many noted speakers will be on the agenda starting early Thursday morning. Friday our own State Representative Halsey Beshears will be discussing conservation practices.
Saturday morning Senator Bill Montford will be making a presentation with particular attention directed to the youth of today. The decisions made by them in the very near future, about water quantity and quality, will affect their lives for years to come.
Directly across the street from the Opera House will be the WATER VENTURES CLASSROOM. This in an interactive, mobile learning lab offering hands-on look at Florida’s diverse watersheds, water conservation and recycling. You may want to schedule it for your school. Come and check it out.
