Thinking of something for a small acreage farm?

David and Lawana Douglas raise this specialty Angus cattle.  Their ranch is called  Oak Terrace Lowlines. Mom and calfThis cattle was developed at the Trangie Research Centre in New South Wales, Australia. Animal Scientists began with a herd of registered Champion Angus cattle, purchased in 1929, that was carefully selected for high quality and small size. The end result was a breed of small, black, polled cattle with pure Angus genetics. Lowline cattle are easy calving, good natured and feed efficient. They maintain themselves well on grass.

Oak Terrace Lowlines Ranch has some for sale and they are located right here in Jefferson County.

Another good friend…..

B O’Toole is having a special event called – FOR THE HARTSPACE – Just B’s Cause

Once upon a time, there was a lonely metal building that stood on the edge of O’Toole’s sheep pasture. Unwanted, unsightly, unused, B had difficulty seeing how this negative eyesore could be transformed into something beautiful, useful and positive. After a space blessing of the structure and a new floor, its potential began to flower. More and more people appeared for Friday yoga and workshops. Now this “Heartspace” thrums with activity and requires more improvements. A bathroom and new electrical capacity for lights and heat are immediate needs of her community center for learning and sharing.

Come and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon and evening with gourmet food, wine, music and fellowship on February 9, 2013. Your $50 Ticket includes a Farm to Table Dinner with wine, prepared by some of B’s favorite chefs and using all local products, a complimentary yoga class, bonfire, candle light Labyrinth Walk, and music by “Jim Crozier and the Gang.” There is also a Cash Bar and Silent Auction. Come spend the day at B’s Herb Farm or drop in for any part of the festivities. Janet Moses will be working in her studio, the gardens and greenhouse will be open, and there is always the Bike Trail less than a third of a mile away.

  • Yoga in the Heartspace at 3:00,
  • Lighting of the Bonfire and Music starts at 5:00
  • Dinner served at 6:00 with more Music and Dancing to follow
