Jefferson County Class 2014Jefferson County FFA Chapters were re-charted at Jefferson County Middle High School during the 2013-2014 school year. Students are enrolled in an Agriculture course which teaches students about the basics of agriculture and the challenges associated with feeding a growing population. As part of the course, students are able to join the National FFA Organization, which is the largest students-led youth organization in the nation, with over half a million FFA members. The mission of FFA is to provide a path for student achievement in premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. At Jefferson County, students participate in numerous leadership events, and competitive events which prepare students for over 300 careers in the agricultural industry. The agricultural industry is no longer only about farming, but also the science and technology associated with producing the food. Students who are part of an FFA chapter gain skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication, as well as becoming great advocates for the agricultural industry.
