Immersion Weaving

Close up of hands working a loom

Written by: Golden Acres Ranch
January 5, 2020

Spend three days immersing yourself in learning (or reviewing) the basics of weaving.

Learn how to…

  • wind a warp
  • dress the loom
  • read a draft
  • plan a project.

After this workshop, you’ll be ready to continue your weaving adventure independently. Designed for beginner level but advanced beginners will not be bored.

Class size is limited to 6 people!

The focus of this class is to learn the process rather than to produce a product, though you’ll weave mug rugs and a sampler of weave structures in class.

Small ( 20″ ) looms will be provided or you can bring your own. If you work on your own loom you’ll have a third project on it to finish at home.

Cost: $300
includes yarns for the first exercise

Dates/Time: Jan 18, 19, 20 from 10-4 each day.

Location: Golden Acres Ranch
704 Barnes Road
Monticello, FL 32344

Supplies List

You will need to bring:

  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape or 6″ ruler
  • 2 colors of weaving yarn in a 3/2 or 5/2 weight, at least 100 yards of each (size 3 crochet cotton).

You may want to bring:

  • Tall chair or stool if working on a table loom
  • Task light
  • Note-taking materials
  • Any of your own weaving tools you’d like to use in class
