Meat Sheep Alliance – Annual Spring Conference 2012

Saturday, April 21, 2012
Registration from 8:00 – 9:00 AM

Ewe with lambsGolden Acres Ranch is hosting the Meat Sheep Alliance of Florida’s 2012 Annual Spring Gathering.

The Meat Sheep Alliance (MSA) was organized to promote the sheep industry in Florida, to provide information and education to its members, and to the general public, regarding the production of sheep. Their website is a great place to learn and share about meat sheep. They have a Classifieds page if you want to buy or sell, and a way to sponsor your own related business for a reasonable fee.

Florida residence is not required for membership which consists of member sheep producers from all over Florida and South Georgia. All curious or wanna’ be sheep producers are welcome to attend. You will gain a great deal of information about raising sheep and the market potential. Of course, we’d like you to consider becoming a member.

The MSA meets twice a year for educational programs, to socialize, and to share ideas – and this year they are meeting here! Saturday, April 21 will be the main program with a pot-luck lunch. Registration is from 8 to 9. Just ask and I can get a program mailed to you.

Want to show off or sell some sheep? Bring them. Just let me know so I can arrange a pen or parking area for you. This is a rain or shine event. We have a large enclosed room if needed.

The weekend of April 20th is the same weekend as the annual Southern Music Rising in Downtown Monticello. Bring your RV and stay for the weekend, or make a day of it. There’s plenty of parking.

For RV’ers, we have 2 hookups or you can use a generator. Everyone is invited to come in Friday evening. April 20. Socialize here at the ranch and help us setup for Saturday or take part in the music fest, art show and the classic car show in town.

Stay Saturday night, too. I’ll have a pot of coffee and some flapjacks Sunday morning and you can enjoy a leisurely drive home Sunday AM.
