Dean Gioia (pronounced Joya) is a friend of my brother, Ken, in Tallahassee. Dean is an artist with a B.E.A. from Florida State University. He is a Florida Fellowship recipient and his work is in over 1,000 public and private collections including the Florida Museum of Natural History and Science, IBM, Barnett Bank, Florida State University, and the City of Tallahassee.
He is opening a one man show at the LeMoyne Art Foundation on October 7th and will continue through October 29th. The show is titled “Americana” and will consist of more than 50 paintings. The opening reception will be Friday, October 7 from 6 until 9pm.
Here are a couple examples of his work. The “models” were Golden Acres Ranch chickens. Dean and his wife Amy came to the ranch to visit Ken and took the photos that he used for the paintings.
