All natural blueberry patch

Photo of Fred harvesting blueberriesWell, the lack of rain did delay our blueberry picking. We were able to harvest this week, though.

This is a completely natural patch here in Jefferson County. We pick here every year but last year was my first experience with making the blueberry jam. It went over so well we were out by Christmas.

This year Fred and I are making a concentrated effort to gather many more gallons. The berries are also smaller than normal and we taste test from each bush as we pick to be sure they are sweet and juicy.  So far, no snakes, mosquitoes or deer flies just lots of vines with thorns. It’s all worth it for the taste of the blueberry cobblers and jam.
